Turning gold into rubber

Four new tires 40K mile + 3 yr alignment/bal/rotate/road haz service = $755 and 3h in the waiting room + 6 cups coffee + 1 lifetime worth of cartoons on the fucking TV. Finally done and ready for my 4h at work.. I was only going to get 2 tires, but they didn't have my size so I had to get a new tire size, and so I swapped the whole set. Only one was any good so I swapped it onto my rather old spare.

I still need to replace my wiper, flush the trans fluid, and maybe a filter or two. I'm glad I brought my laptop with me. I was browsing porn in the waiting room the whole time, which made the time flow by a bit faster I suppose.

No more big expenses plz I'm not a real doctor and don't make real doctor money :(

*snugs ya* Aren't you going to get a new vehicle? Why are you spending all this money on the truck if you were thinking of going that direction? *hugs*

Nah I didn't want to get a new car anyway, but I figured that it was inevitable. It is, but not as soon as I thought it was. American trucks are built to last longer than American cars, and with some TLC I can get another 50K out of this thing before I have to bend over for another car note again. 1000 bucks isn't much when you consider how much I've avoided paying in scheduled maintenance over the years.

It's much cheaper to keep this truck on the road than it is to buy and finance a newer car, and pay full coverage insurance for another few years as opposed to my el-cheapo truck insurance. Also I'd feel obligated to keep a new car washed and clean and the oil changed on it. I change the oil in my truck about twice a year at best and it's already beat up so I don't wash it.

I could easily afford to buy a new car but I'll wait until I need to and I'm living in another, less car-unfriendly, place.
