Slave to the machine

Our developing machine has been broken for the better part of this week. Someone undoubtedly crammed a tiny piece of film into it and wrecked it. Probably it was the gaggle of Chinese post-docs from the other department (who aren't supposed to be using the damned thing). Our lab runs dozens and dozens of films every week (I probably average about 20) so, this is a recurring and significant problem for us. There's another machine in the adjoining building, one floor up, which makes using it a pain in the ass. I either have to bring everything up there and develop and expose in a tiny room, or lose signal through the walk. Today I had 15 membranes to do and .... the second machine was broken too. As was the one one floor below. We had to sneak into the Chinese postdoc's dept. room to develop. Bluuuuuuuugghhhh. I had 3 more to do later, and found the door locked as everyone had gone home at 5. FIVE O'CLOCK THEY LOCKED THE DARKROOM.

How they can leave a machine broken for an entire week is incredible to me. Tomorrow when I have a meeting with my boss, I'm just sure he'll understand why I have nothing to show him and not blame me at all. Totally sure.

In other news Jim Cramer is costing me fucking money. Booyah, my indigent ass!
