I went to a dagger-fighting class today from 12-2 in Webster, and got a chance to spar with my padded longsword waster. Actually the other guy was worried about it not being soft enough and hurting him, so I let him use it while I used his other one. It held up pretty well apparently without wobbling. It tore in a couple of places but that kind of thing happens. Looks like we're going to be training up at the Beltway instead of this god-awful YMCA, and on Saturdays from 11:30 to 2:00. I can't remember but I think someone on my friends list once asked about doing this training, (it must've been Shockwave?) well it's on the weekend now so if that is more do-able, there you go.
After class I went to the Harley place and picked up my exhaust baffles finally and drove to the Hong Kong market to get some asian groceries. Jesus the smell of urinals about knocks you down when you walk in there. I bought some miso paste (finally baby, miso soup again), big-ass bunches of mint leaves for cheap, and some sugar plums. also, a 'roasted pig' sandwich. Then I went next door to a vietnamese place for lunch, and got whatever, and for the first time I tried some kind of mango smoothie with tapioca beebees at the bottom, it was pretty good.
I drove home and found one of my neighbors moving out of her apartment. She asked me if I had a bolt-cutter because she locked her keys in the back of a moving van. I didn't, but I went inside and got my lockpick set, went back out there and picked the lock for her. It only took about 2-3 minutes, I was very pleased with myself. I didn't think I was going to be able to do it as it's been a long time since I've practiced that. Her dad and brother were very much impressed and I spent 10 minutes answering questions about lockpicking before they left.
