Mar. 29th, 2005

I just looked at some jeb bush/tom delay/terry schiavo slash, and boy are my arms tired.  No, that doesn't sound good at all.

I left work a little early and drove up to Texas City to the Airgas store and bought a welding rig.  I've been trying to find time to go there before they close at 5 every day, but I juuust made it this time.  It came with a little cart, how thoughtful.  I also found a store in galveston by chance that looks like it sells square tubing.  If they do, I'm going to make myself a dining table like I saw in crate&barrel and save some money.  And then I'll mail a picture of it to them and tell them to shove their version up their ass.

At the end of Harborside (left hand side like your leaving the island, right at that first light pass the bridge) theres an awesome metal place that sells tons of ornamentals and stock metal, plus grinding and welding supplies. They have 1x1 square in 20 foot sections for 16.99. Dude, I found a vespa engine stand for 125 bucks online, but got some 1x1 instead and made an even better one for 8. To welding!

Re: Gotcha.
Yeah that's the place I saw yesterday. I don't know why I never saw the sign, I always thought that place was just a warehouse. Awesome, I'm gonna stop by there and pick up some metal this week, if I can get there before they close for the day.

You weld?!

Teach me! *scratchs at the door*

Yeah I can weld a little, not like some UAW guy in Detroit with a gallon-size lunchbox can weld, or anything.. but I can make metal stick to metal. I can show you what little skill I have acquired if you want, and you can play around with it and weld your watch to some angle iron or whatnot. I haven't hooked this machine up to the power supply yet; It'll be my luck the landlord's fusebox will light up like a firework!

a few questions... what kind of machine did you buy? I'm assuming MIG.. maybe an 130xp? would that airgas store be named potomac airgas? or be a part of theres? tell me you bought a Miller brand too *crosses claws*

if you need welding advice ask a puma ;) I'm a master with a mig and can kick ass stick welding.

Yea I bought a MIG kit, and of course Miller! Come on now, my mama didn't raise no fool. I got a Millermatic 135, I don't have anything but 110 around here so I pretty much had to. I dunno about the potomac airgas thing, the sign just said airgas, it's on highway 146 (like that helps you, yankee).

If I run into any problems I'll definitely give you a call, I'm gonna hopefully give this thing a go on my pig cooker and see how she runs.
