mark of the (other) beast

I just cannot believe how many telemarketing calls I have been getting lately on my cellphone line.  I have just gotten one from a police charity, and in the past couple of weeks got several from Sprint with at least three different nationality accented people hawking some kind of expensive internet card for my computer.  I got some kind of bad gris-gris on me lately I think.  I need to stop answering my cell with 888 numbers altogether.

I only give my cell number to friends, family and coworkers. I never give it to any business for any reason. Likewise my private personal email address - businesses get my Yahoo address which is good about filtering.

I just checked the do not call registry and, though I am certain I registered my number there, it is not on the list. I just re-registered it. And then promptly received another (presumably) telemarketing call. Go figure.

I don't often give my number out to anyone except as a call-back number (like to the auto shop, etc.) and play it similarly safe with my email addresses (I have 3 that I use every day and only one is my spammable addy). My cellphone has a dump button so I can send them to voicemail if necessary.
