I got a chance to break in my new SWAT team greaves/shin protectors today because my swordfighting class was revolving around 'perring' or the Celtic martial art/sport of shin-kicking. I've never heard of it either. It's basically just kicking people in the shins/knees until they can't take the pain anymore. Those guards are nice. But I already had bruises on my shins, or have sensitive shins, so I could still feel every blow. Didn't get to break in my new helmet which came in yesterday though. We're gonna be stickfighting soon so I'm looking forward to that.

My thumb has been hurting the past couple of days. I guess working out has probably put some strain on it, but part of it is healing well, the swelling is almost completely gone, the tenderness is way down, the discoloration and bruising is almost indetectable. but the parethesia is still there on the top and sides. And the side where I got hit is really giving sharp pains when I bend the joint. My range of motion is around 50-60 degrees instead of 90 which isn't so cool. Still taking a lot of ibuprofen and aspirin to try to prevent inflammation. I'll wait a few more weeks I guess.
