My washing machine has been suffering from washing machine polio for.. for basically ever since it was made, which was probably when I was made.  It takes about 3 hours to run a warm/hot load, and god help you if you like cold loads because it will take the whole day.  The drum gets off-balanced and randomly turns off on its own, and it leaks water into the drum constantly.  I was thinking about getting this compact washer that they sell at Home Depot to set on top of it to do my laundry, it's a compact hi-efficiency that would actually run more in a load than the big one.  But it's a friggin washing machine and so it's expensive.  And it just seems kind of defeatist to do it.  I called a plumber once to look at the washer but he said it would cost more to fix it than to replace it.  I have to admit, I kind of like being able to wear clean clothes on my body and I like having those clothes washed in less time than it takes to go to work and come home again.  I just think that if I buy the damn thing, what will I do with it if I move to a joint that comes with a working washer down the line?  Who has two of them just sitting around?
