So I mounted my old hdd and scavenged old emails and useful stuff and then repartitioned it, and then installed RedHat on it again. And again, Grub screwed me out of loading WinXP (the docs didn't mention not to load the bootstrap into the MBR). Now I guess I'll have to FIXMBR and see if I can start over again. On the upside, I found out I'd partitioned my original hdd and forgotten about one of them, effectively returning another 30Gb back to me. And even with almost completely new hardware on this install, I still don't have soundcard or printer support. And of course I did all this at midnight, forcing me to stay up till 3 and go to bed pissed off.

Yeah, unless you specify that you already have WinXP installed, GRUB won't recognize the partition and allow you to boot into XP. I had to do the same for my HD whenever I installed AssHat, making sure that XP was installed first.

But 30 random gigs is cool enough.

Well, actually I went and rewrote grub.conf to put something in for xp, but then it hung during boot without even entering grub. I think it's because my linux drive is on the second IDE and XP is on the first. I'm going to move the drive over and see if it helps.
